Description: L.S. Lowry () Pontesford Hill, graphite on paper signed and dated L.S. Lowry at lower right, and titled at upper right on the reverse 8 3/4 x 10 3/4 in., x cm Provenance: Mercury Gallery, London (their label verso). The subject-matter is one of two hills in Shropshire credited as being major Ancient. Sketchbook of 30 folios (three cut out) containing 26 watercolours, two monochrome wash drawings and six pencil sketches or rough notations, together with a separate ink drawing by another hand and two handwritten sheets of Whatman wove paper (watermarked with the date ), bound in morocco.
